Thank you for visiting the Online Open House for the Climate Action Element of Kenmore’s Comprehensive Plan.  

The City of Kenmore is updating our Comprehensive Plan to guide how we grow and develop our city, thinking about where we want to be in 20 years. We recently updated the Comprehensive Plan vision for Land Use and Housing after hearing from the community, and now we are studying how our climate policies could and should be created to support this vision.

• Update: Thank you to everyone who submitted feedback during the Online Open House. The feedback received has been used to revise and update the Draft Climate Action Plan Element of the Comprehensive Plan. 
• The Draft Climate Action Element will be brought to City Council in the fall for approval and ordinance adoption.
• The Draft Climate Action Element and other supporting documents can be found below.
• Printed copies of the Draft Climate Action Element can be made available upon request via email: CAP@kenmorewa.gov or by visiting Kenmore City Hall during business hours.

The City of Kenmore was awarded a grant through the Department of Commerce to develop and integrate climate goals and policies into the City’s long term Comprehensive Planning document. The Climate Action Element (CAE) will build on commitments made in the City’s Climate Action Plan and provide a consistent, clear, and actionable framework to guide mitigation and resilience actions and serve as the foundation for an ongoing community dialogue around climate action.

Policies

The draft Climate Action Element addresses the following focus areas:

• Climate Resilience: Policies aimed to address the impacts and risks of climate change by increasing city resilience and/or decreasing city vulnerability.

• Climate Mitigation: Policies aimed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions that cause climate change.

• Climate Equity: Policies aimed to address the disproportionate impacts of climate change on certain communities due to existing and historic racial, social, environmental, and economic inequities.
