Natural Areas

 The map below shows parks and areas within the city that include natural and open space areas, including wetlands, protected shorelines and steep slopes. Continuing to protect natural areas is an ongoing priority for the City. Adding trails or viewpoints where feasible and appropriate is also a consideration in some natural areas.

Proposed Off-Road Pedestrian and Bicycle Trails

The map below shows a potential plan for an off-road pedestrian and bike trail network to provide connections to parks, schools, community destinations, and residential areas. The trail segments could be designed for pedestrians, cyclists, and on-leash dog use depending on environmental and other constraints. Wayfinding signage may also be included. Please rate the following proposals.

Park Picnic Tables and Shelters

Under the proposed plan shown in the graphic, the City could install picnic tables or shelters to provide additional facilities within a 5-10 minute walk of most residential areas. This could include group picnic shelters in locations suitable for larger gatherings. Rate this proposal below.

Playgrounds and Play Areas

As show in the below graphic, the City could develop playgrounds and play areas to provide access within a 5-10 minute walking distance of most residential areas in the city. The proposal would replace some existing playgrounds and update other playgrounds to meet ADA requirements, safety concerns, and new activity interests. Please rate this proposal.

Sport Courts for Basketball, Pickleball, Volleyball and Other Activities

Under the proposed plan shown in the graphic, the City could develop multi-use sport courts to provide basketball, pickleball, volleyball, and other activities within a 5-10 minute walking distance of most residential areas of the city. The proposal would upgrade some existing sport courts to increase surface durability, meet safety concerns, and accommodate multiple activity interests. Please rate this proposal.

Under the proposed plan shown in the graphic, the City could explore the feasibility of improving the existing City-owned field at Moorlands Park by adding multi-use turf to create more opportunities for recreational and competitive play for all ages.  The City could also explore acquiring and developing a new athletic field site. Indoor Facilities

22.  

Under the proposed plan and including the sites shown in the graphic, the City could renovate the Kenmore Senior Center and add new indoor facilities able to serve all ages (children, teens, adults, older adults) with spaces for indoor recreation, fine and performing arts, and aquatics. Rate this proposal.
