Welcome!

Thank you for visiting the Online Open House for the Transportation Element update of Kenmore’s Comprehensive Plan.  The survey portion of the Open House is now closed.

The City of Kenmore is updating our Comprehensive Plan to guide how we grow and develop our city, thinking about where we want to be in 20 years. We recently updated the Comprehensive Plan vision for Land Use and Housing after hearing from the community, and now we are studying how our transportation policies and projects should be changed to support this vision.

  • This online open house on the Transportation Element is now closed.
  • The public can also comment on the  proposed changes anytime by emailing the Planning Commission: planning_commission@kenmorewa.gov and at the public hearing on March 7, 2023

Proposed changes to the Transportation Element

The Transportation Element update is an opportunity to examine how transportation projects and policies can support the recently updated land use vision and could improve access, equity, and mobility in Kenmore. The draft update describes a vision for the future transportation network in Kenmore through eight goals, with supporting objectives and policies, and an implementation strategy made of our near-term and long-term projects.

Policies:

The draft Transportation Element Update adds or addresses the following topics:

• Non-motorized mobility (walking, biking, rolling)

• Support for expanded bus service in Kenmore, consistent with the City’s vision as a high-capacity transit community with an activated, thriving downtown

• The relationship between transportation and climate change

• Equity in transportation projects and services

• New and evolving transportation technologies

Projects:

The draft Transportation Element Update includes projects that improve:

• Pedestrian and bicycle accessibility

• Safety for all users

• Access for individuals with disabilities

• Vehicle operations

Additionally, projects are identified that maintain the existing roadways through pavement preservation.
